Our little crew is doing so well! They are actually a little older than I thought they were at first – probably between 5-6 weeks, instead of 4. They are a little underweight, probably as a result of momma disappearing, but their eyes aren’t blue anymore and they can climb and do all sorts of things that fit 5-6 week old kittens. Including eating from a bowl!!!!! I tried them out with a slurry of kitten milk replacer and some Mother and Baby Cat Mousse (my first food for kittens) and they gobbled the stuff from the bowl. Wish I’d had my camera…I’ll get some video of it soon for you. Now that they can eat real food they will gain the weight quickly. And I don’t need to get up at 2 am anymore…woo hoo. I am still supplementing with the bottle if it doesn’t seem like someone (usually Bobby) hasn’t eaten enough, but that won’t last long.

Gracie is quite enamored with the kittens and rushes into the room every chance she gets. And they don’t seem at all bothered by her, although there is still plexiglass between them. But by the time they are big enough to interact with her they should all be friends already. (Becca is the one peering at the camera in the video below…she’s super adorable.)

I expanded their digs today, in part so I can sit comfortably in the enclosure with them to make sure they eat. They now have a little sleeping and play area, a “dining area,” and a potty area. (And they are using their litter boxes faithfully…no more assisting with potty duties for me.) A lovely studio apartment . And with temperatures in our area in the low 80’s and low humidity, they are enjoying having the windows open for some fresh air, instead of the window AC unit. Pretty much heaven for the little ones.

They are surprisingly social for kittens who were found outside at the advanced age of 5 weeks or thereabouts, but I am having friends come in for cuddle sessions too. Kittens can’t possibly be too social when it comes to getting them adopted into good homes.

That’s the report from day 4. More discoveries to come in the days ahead.

    1. You’re within driving distance.. Happy to bring all the kittens to you, but Gracie stays…sorry!

    1. She won’t give them a chance to crawl on her, but I bet they will have fun playing with her tail feathers.

  1. Oh! My! Kittens! They are just too adorable for words! I love the way Gracie was pawing at the plexiglass – “let me in!” she seemed to be saying. 🥰

  2. It’s wonderful they’re all doing so well – they look happy and now that their house has an “extension” they will probably enjoy chasing each other more easily! How nice not to have 2AM feedings any longer…..more ZZZZ for you!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. It was lovely to sleep through the whole night. I don’t know how bottle feeders of the youngest kittens do it for weeks.

    1. Yeah, I can’t wait to see what emerges in Becca…she’s gonna be one to keep an eye on!

  3. They are so cute. Little Becca is precious, but then the other two behind her pawing at each other…adorable.
