The Fosters: The Prodigal Brother

After almost a whole week, Kai’s brother finally appeared and was captured today, and the two are reunited.

Nikko is pretty scared of me for the moment, but he’ll come around quickly especially since Kai is good with me. Kai has been giving me no end of concern for the last few days. He went four days without eating on his own, and had to be force fed. I even needed to give him fluids a couple times since he wasn’t drinking much either and was getting dehydrated. Like magic, when his brother joined him, he decided to eat – thankfully! I swear these little ones just love to worry us.

Meet Nikko, who is a pretty grey boy with some white feet like his brother.

He had absolutely no problem launching into all available food, and with a little competition for the food, Kia got busy and helped himself as well. They are enjoying each other’s company while they continue in their quarantine period. Being alone was not at all fun for Kai, and I’m glad he has someone to hang and sleep with now.

Welcome to rescue, Nikko. Much better days are ahead.

  1. Oh I’m so glad these little ones are “reunited”……Kai may have been depressed without his brother so not eating but now they are together I hope they both thrive. So glad!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Kai was definitely sad being alone. He’ll be much happier now. And both kittens are eating well. Phew!

  2. Aw, that’s wonderful! I’m so happy they have each other now. And he’s a cutie. I hoped they get adopted as a pair. They need each other.

    1. They each need another kitten, to be sure. Luckily when they clear quarantine, they will have five other new brothers to hang with, and perhaps be adopted with.

  3. I’m so glad these two are reunited. Cutest little faces! Will you try to adopt them together? Kai looks like the sweetest little grump in that picture with Nikko. 😸

    1. Kai was not pleased, initially, and did the Halloween cat thing with Nikko, but they got over it in half an hour. We’ll see if anyone goes with anyone else. There are 7 kittens with me now, and time will tell. They won’t be ready for adopting for another 4-6 weeks.

    1. They may or may not be adopted together – time will tell. They’re not a bonded pair, so they have options. But they’re enjoying the company in quarantine until they can join five new brothers!

    1. Yup, the socialization makes a huge difference, and it is helping Nikko get comfortable with people and Kai is so happy for companionship. Good for both of them.
